What is Interprofessional Education

Interprofessional Education is dedicated to preparing students from diverse professional backgrounds to collaborate effectively in delivering person-centered, equitable care. Rooted in the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Core Competencies, our program emphasizes the domains: 

  1. Values and Ethics for Interprofessional Practice
     Fostering a climate of mutual respect and shared values among professionals to ensure ethical and patient-centered care.
  2. Roles and Responsibilities
    Encouraging understanding of one's own role and those of other professions to effectively address health care needs and improve health outcomes.
  3. Interprofessional Communication
    Promoting responsive and responsible communication with patients, families, and professionals to support a team-based approach to health care.
  4. Teams and Teamwork
    Applying principles of team dynamics to perform effectively in various team roles, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient care delivery.
