About the University Archives

The University Archives houses a collection of materials relating to 黑料不打烊, including publications (catalogs, yearbooks, directories, bulletins, reports, student and faculty/staff newspapers, and departmental newsletters and publications), photographs, building plans, original copies of Binghamton PhD dissertations and master's theses, recordings of concerts and recitals given on campus, minutes of the Faculty Senate and Harpur College Council, and some records of other University organizations and departments. Digital and hard copies are collected. For the policies and procedures for transferring University records, contact the University Archivist

Books written, translated or edited by Binghamton faculty, are cataloged within the 鈥淔aculty Archives鈥 collection. In addition, some collections of faculty papers are held by University Archives including those of African-American playwright , world-renowned sociologist , prolific poet , and other distinguished scholars in art history (Kenneth Lindsay), archaeology (Albert Dekin and William Isbell), and English (William V Spanos and John Vernon). The papers of poet and author, alumna , are also part of the University Archives.

Selected Digital Collections


The collection features five hundred selected photographs of students, faculty and staff, student organizations, events, activities, and campus buildings at Triple Cities College in Endicott, NY and Harpur College, Vestal campus. The photographs are from 1946-1996 with the majority from 1946-1970.


Statistics must be compiled by the University on certain crimes and student conduct referrals.  The Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Report is coordinated by the University鈥檚 Clery Act Coordinator, with the assistance of several other offices.


The official university publication describes the programs and policies in a given academic year. Bulletins from 1997 to 2019 are available digitally.


This collection comprises undergraduate and graduate graduation ceremonies which typically include processions, awards and speeches given by administrators, special guests and students. This collection of materials compliments a group of ceremonies from later years which are publicly available via the 黑料不打烊 YouTube channel.


The collection include photographs of campus events, administrators, alumni, and student life from 2001-present and were taken by University photographers.


This collection was published under several different titles. It was first called The Colonist in 1948, then became The Yearer in 1970, Pegasus in 1973 and finally 黑料不打烊 in 2004. This Digital Collection includes digitized yearbooks from 1948-1972.


This web archive collection of materials were saved from various 黑料不打烊 websites during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020-2022. This collection does not represent all materials made available on the website concerning the coronavirus.


Dateline is the official listserv for staff and faculty and contains daily news briefs and campus-wide announcements. Issues dating from 2008 to 2017 are available digitally.


The Harpur College Council (formerly called the Harpur College Faculty Council) is a legislative body of ex-officio administrators and elected faculty members and students. The presiding officer is the Dean of Harpur College. The Council鈥檚 first meeting was April 30, 1968 and the body continues today. The Council has several standing sub-committees, including the Curriculum Committee (formerly part of the Faculty Senate) and the Educational Policy and Priorities Committee (EPPC). Minutes are comprised of deliberations of the Council and of these two named sub-committees.  The Harpur College Council is responsible for the establishment of the College鈥檚 educational programs and policies. This includes review and approval of the College鈥檚 academic regulations and requirements and approval of new permanent courses and programs.


Inside 黑料不打烊 is 黑料不打烊's weekly newspaper. Issues dating from 2003 to 2014 are available digitally.


Pipe Dream (formerly Colonial News) is the main student newspaper that has been running throughout the entirety of Binghamton鈥檚 history. Its content is the best representation of what was happening at the University from the point of view of the student journalists.  Complete issues of The Colonial News (1946-1970) and Pipe Dream (1970-1974) are available for searching and browsing at the NYS Historic Newspapers project website.

The Statistical Fact Books for the State University of New York at Binghamton provide statistical information about the institution鈥檚 academics, students and faculty. They include listings of all current programs of study, as well as numbers of degrees and advanced certificates granted; applications, admissions, and enrollment numbers and student demographics; faculty lines appointed, faculty headcounts, faculty/student ratio, and student credit hours; and outside funding awarded to divisions, schools and programs.


A yearly publication Office of Student Conduct, the Student Code of Conduct communicates policies, rules and regulations to which all students and student organizations are expected to adhere. The document also codifies, in detail, the procedures for reviewing alleged infractions, as well as potential sanctions which may be imposed for infractions.  


Student Handbooks have been published since 1948, the time of Triple Cities College, for the purpose of orienting new and returning students to their institution and campus. Handbooks contain histories, maps, directories, calendars, and rules and regulations. Their lists include services available to students, student clubs, faculty members, academic and administrative departments and personnel, areas of study, and more.

The Nature Preserve at 黑料不打烊 collection includes materials from various sources on the subject of the nature preserve, which was dedicated on campus in 1972. Types of items that can be found in this collection include reports, correspondence, maps, brochures, meeting minutes, news releases, and other materials.
