My 10 Favorite Study Spots at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ
I still can’t believe the semester is almost over — we’re officially in the final stretch!
Over the past two years living on campus, I’ve discovered some great study spots that helped me stay focused for hours and get through exams with satisfactory results. Since I also work in the Office of Media and Public Relations, I couldn’t pass up the chance to create videos featuring these spots. I recorded some of and even asked .
With that in mind, here’s a list of my personal favorite study spots on campus. Let’s see if you notice a common theme among them!
1. Innovation Lab

My go-to study spot is the Innovation Lab because of its perfect central location. It’s close to my dorm, CIW and Hinman dining halls, the printers, vending machines and the Union. My favorite part about this spot is the natural lighting — thanks to the large windows, it’s so much easier to stay focused while studying. Plus, you’ll never struggle to find an outlet, with plenty of them hanging from the ceiling and lining the walls!
2. Science 2

Even though I’ve never had a class in Science 2, I sometimes teach ballroom classes there in the evenings. After those classes, I love staying to study or do homework at the tables near the windows. If you head to the upper floors, you’ll get an amazing view of Binghamton in the late afternoon or evening — you can also catch the sunset and see the campus lights as the night comes. It’s a great spot if you really want to focus, since it’s usually quiet and peaceful.
3. Computer Lab

I love this spot because it lets me work on both my personal laptop and a desktop computer with a large screen. I usually come here when I’m working on something that requires having lots of tabs open. If I’ve taken digital notes, the printers are right next to me, so I can easily print them out and review them on paper. It’s also conveniently close to vending machines and the Hinman Dining Hall — perfect for taking a quick snack break when I need it.
4. Bartle Library Third Floor

This is one of the newest study spaces on campus, and I love it! Every time I go, I try to find a new spot to sit. There are so many different chairs, tables and couches with fun shapes and colors that make studying feel a little less boring. When I study there, I always try to grab a seat near the corners — those spots have the best windows and natural light! Check it out in the we made about this place.
5. Bartle Library Fourth Floor

Third Floor is all the rage right now. I’m still a fan of the fourth and now it’s a little less busy making it even better. This is a great spot if you’re looking to study with friends! The library’s fourth floor has several group study rooms you can reserve in advance — perfect for collaborative studying or working on group projects. My favorite rooms are the ones in the corners because they have big windows and plenty of space to spread out and get comfortable when you’re in a big study group.
6. Jazzman's Booths

We all know that if you manage to get one of these booths, you’ve basically won the lottery for the day! Their availability is limited for a reason — they’re super comfy, each seat has its own outlet underneath, and there’s a big window next to every booth to help keep you awake and focused. One of my favorite things about this spot is how close it is to the . So if you ever need a coffee or a croissant to recharge during your study session, it’s just a few steps away!
7. Hinman Success Center

I love this place, especially when I need a change of scenery! One of my favorite spots is the chairs close to the corner windows or the individual study rooms. It is a great place to focus because it is quiet and the printers are right there if you want to print your study notes! My favorite thing about this place is the whiteboards! I love using them when I have to do math problems or mental maps to study!
8. C4 Couches

This is one of my favorite spots for doing light work. If you enter C4 and head to the floor above the dining hall, you’ll find a large area filled with couches and big windows. I love grabbing a couch that faces the window so I can get some work done while enjoying the view outside. There’s also a piano in the corner, and sometimes students play it — so I end up with live piano music as my background! Plus, if I get hungry while working or studying, the dining hall is just downstairs, making it super easy to grab a snack or meal.
9. Appalachian Collegiate Center

Another great study spot — similar to C4 — is in Mountainview! I love the Appalachian Collegiate Center, especially at night, since it has the best ice cream and great late-night food. The space has couches, tables and big windows that offer an amazing view of campus. If you visit during the day, the Success Center is also open nearby, which is super convenient for getting extra help or resources to study.
10. Strange Brew (Downtown)

As a coffee fan, I couldn’t leave out a good coffee spot to study or get work done. My favorite place downtown is , mainly because their coffee and cozy aesthetic are amazing. We even made a about it for National Coffee Day! I love going there to study or work alone, enjoy a great cup of coffee and dessert, and spend some time off campus soaking in the vibe of downtown Binghamton.
As you can probably tell, two things I always look for in a good study spot are nearby food options and big windows — and all of these places have that in common! I hope you enjoyed checking out my favorite spots, and feel free to let me know if there are any others that Binghamton students should check out too!
