
Katie Sasina, CPhT, CPTEd
Instructional Support Associate
Background
Katie Sasina serves as the Instructional Support Associate for the Pharmacy Technician Program Microcredential at the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. With her extensive experience in both community and hospital pharmacies, she assists students in skills labs to create real-life experiences technicians will encounter in the field.
Before joining the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sasina worked as a certified, registered pharmacy technician at the United Health Services Wilson inpatient pharmacy for over 6 years. There she delivered medication to units, mixed IVs, trained new technicians, and helped with various other pharmacy responsibilities.
Prior to her hospital tenure, Sasina spent 6 years working as a senior technician at Rite Aid pharmacy where she served her community members by filling their prescriptions.
In 2025, Sasina became one of the first in the nation to earn the new Certified Pharmacy Technician Educator (CPTEd) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. This certification recognizes her expertise, commitment and leadership in pharmacy technician education, curriculum development, and learner assessment, which reflects her dedication to advancing technician training.
