
Background
Azucena Trincado Murugarren (she/they) holds a PhD in Hispanic Languages 鈥嬧媋nd Literatures from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages 鈥嬧媋nd Literatures at the State University of New York at Binghamton.
She has a B.A. in Hispanic Philology and Basque Studies from the University of the Basque Country. Before beginning her PhD, she completed a master鈥檚 in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies from the Universidad Aut贸noma de Madrid.
Currently, her interdisciplinary research interests revolve around contemporary peninsular and cultural studies, queer theory, gender and trans studies. Murugarren has presented her work at national and international conferences, such as the MLA. Among her publications, it is worth highlighting the chapter 鈥淥n Sexual Difference and Lesbianism in Eva Baltasar鈥檚 Novels Permagel (2019) and Boulder (2020)鈥 in the edited volume Character and Gender in Contemporary Catalan Literature (2022).
