Background

Estefan铆a Flores Ortiz鈥檚 research addresses the intersections between identity, race, class and gender in colonial Hispanic American literature and culture, with particular attention to the 18th century. She has published articles on Jesuit chronicles and historiography, female spiritual autobiography and theatrical representations.

Flores Ortiz is also interested in the practice of the digital humanities with the purpose of preserving, studying and circulating Early Modern archival documents and cultural production. In the spring of 2023, she was selected to participate in the NEH-AHRC Spanish Paleography and Digital Humanities Institute at the LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections at the University of Texas in Austin.

Before joining 黑料不打烊, she taught at different institutions in Ecuador and the United States. At 黑料不打烊, she teaches language courses from introductory to advanced levels, as well as Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and literature, culture and film courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
