Background
Gerardo Pignatiello's research focuses on crime and detective fiction (literature and film) in the Southern Cone of Latin America. His publications explore the work of writers Jorge Luis Borges, Antonio Di Benedetto, Rodolfo Walsh, Luisa Mercedes Levinson, Germ谩n Maggiori, Gabriela Cabez贸n C谩mara and Gustavo Escanlar, and filmmakers Israel Adri谩n Caetano, Lucrecia Martel, Mariano Llin谩s and Fabi谩n Bielinsky.
He has participated in international conferences and has published several articles about crime fiction in academic journals in Latin America, the United States and Europe. He co-edited two volumes Crimen y pesquisa. El g茅nero policial en la Argentina (1870-2015): literatura, cine, televisi贸n, historieta y testimonio (Blatt&R铆os, 2016) and El g茅nero policial en el per铆odo cl谩sico (1930-1960) entre Sur y el peronismo: modelos narrativos, tensiones y debates culturales (Libros Medio Siglo, 2021). He is also working on his first book, El policial campero argentino.
