Background

Roc铆o Leguisamon Tolentino鈥檚 research expertise centers on language contact, bilingualism and sociolinguistics, with a specific focus on Spanish variation and change among U.S. Latinos. Her doctoral dissertation explores lexical phenomena and code-switching within the Dominican community in New Jersey, offering new insights into sociolinguistic dynamics across generations. Her work contributes to the broader understanding of language maintenance and the connections of Spanish dialects in the Northeast.

She is an instructor with a passion for Spanish language education, focusing on heritage language learners and bilingualism. With years of experience teaching both heritage and non-heritage Spanish courses, she is committed to fostering an engaging, student-centered classroom where learners are empowered to enhance their communicative skills.
