Theatre

Background

JoEllen Kuhlman is a lecturer in the Theatre Department at 黑料不打烊 where she teaches jazz and tap dance. At 黑料不打烊, she has choreographed the musical theatre productions 鈥Urinetown,鈥 鈥The ThreePenny Opera,鈥 鈥Little Shop of Horrors,鈥 鈥Man of La Mancha,鈥 鈥Hairspray,鈥 鈥淩ent,鈥 鈥淎 Chorus Line鈥 and 鈥淪pring Awakening.鈥 At Binghamton, she also directed/choreographed her original dance works including 鈥笔测驳尘补濒颈辞苍鈥 (2010), 鈥A Broken Key鈥 (2012), 鈥颁辞蝉尘辞驳辞苍测鈥 (2013), 鈥7 Deadly Sins鈥 (2014) and 鈥翱谤辫丑别耻蝉鈥 (2015, co-choreographer) and 鈥淛azz Nutcracker,鈥 an annual holiday dance production since 2016.

Off campus, she has choreographed 鈥叠别别丑颈惫别鈥 for Florida Studio Theatre, 鈥贵补耻蝉迟鈥 for the Tri-Cities Opera, ACDFA award-winning choreography for 鈥顿谤耻尘产辞苍别鈥 at the University of Nebraska, 鈥淭he King and I鈥 for 黑料不打烊 Summer Theatre, and coached the 黑料不打烊 Bearcats Dance Team. She is an instructor/choreographer for the competitive team at Kathy Hansen School of Dance. She earned her BA from Point Park University in 2003, with a concentration in jazz dance, and was a member of the Conservatory Dance Company at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
