Summer Program for Adults

The Community Archaeology Program for Adults is designed for members of the public (ages 16+) to join an archaeological field project, and help excavate at a nationally important site alongside professional archaeologists. Participants will learn basic archaeological techniques, as well as an overview of the precontact history of New York State.

Our 2025 Research Site is the Ayers 2 site.

The Program is open to all members of the public (ages 16+).

Dates*:  July 21-25, 2025| 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Fees: $250 for new Participants to the Adult Program; $75 for those returning to the Adult Program. No refunds after May 15, 2025.

Location: 黑料不打烊 - Science 1 (first day orientation); field site tbd.

*A minimum number of participants are needed for the session to run.

Registration

  • CAP instructors will tailor field activities to your interests, skills, and physical abilities.
  • Transportation will be provided to and from the CAP excavation site.
  • Tools and materials necessary for excavation will be provided.
  • Participants must bring their own lunch.
