Oral History Project

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is excited to launch an Alumni Oral History Project. We've partnered with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to take on this endeavor.

To date, we've collected hundreds of stories and memories shared by passionate Binghamton University graduates recounting their days and experiences as students, and now alumni. The stories will be compiled to create a commemorative coffee table book that will be published at the start of 2026 as a way to celebrate Binghamton's 80th birthday year.

Below, you'll see frequently asked questions (and answers) regarding this project. Updates will be posted here so be sure to check this page later in the year.

Does ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ benefit from this at all?
Yes, in a few different ways: updated information – this allows us to effectively communicate with and engage alumni; legacy – preserves the history of our school; and pride – wearing apparel shows support and love for our school.

How do I know my information will only be used for the oral history project?
PCI is committed to protecting your information. Names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the oral history project will be held confidential, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion, PCI will redact personal identifiable information from any and all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the oral history.

I shared a story and the representative said I could send photos. How would I do this?
You will receive an email with a link to upload up to two photos (black and white or color) plus captions. If you have also purchased a book but do not have an email address on file, you will be sent a mailer to send physical photos in (note: photos will be returned only if you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope).

I’d like to add or remove information from my story.
You will receive an email prior to publication with a link to review your transcribed story and make any edits.

Can anyone purchase a book?
The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Oral History Publication is available for sale only to Binghamton University alumni.

When will I receive my book?
The total duration of the project is about 12 months. Because we began the project in February 2025, the books will be ready in 2026 as part of the University’s 80th birthday celebration.

I ordered a book or package over the phone and would like to cancel my order. How do I do this?
Contact PCI’s customer service help desk at 1-800-982-1590 or by e-mail.
